Koroni Beach
A small sandy beach literally 5 minutes away, Koroni is one of Kefalonias ‘hidden’ gems. Backed by towering cliffs and vegetation it has always been a beautiful beach to visit and never over populated.
However, it is always best to check in advance if it is accessible before heading down as sometimes it is closed due to the access path being closed as it crosses private property.
Lourdas Beach
The settlement stands on the hillside overlooking the blue sea. It is quite popular for its well-organized beach where many visitors enjoy a refreshing swim, right after their arrival to the village. The beach is surrounded by a green landscape with thick vegetation and beautiful waterfalls running through the mountains.
The combination of the crystalline waters and stunning mountain backdrop of Mount Aenos provides a dream scenery that captivates all visitors.
Katelios
Katelios is a lovely beach and one of the most picturesque villages of Kefalonia, located between Skala and Lourda. The area is known for its peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a family vacation. The coast is much preferred for long walks and sunbathing. At the main road of Katelios you will find a couple of nice beachfront cafes and fish taverns.
Melissani
Melissani is one of the most significant places for tourists to visit in Greece. Surprisingly, there is a lake inside the cave that has trees and forests surrounding it. The cave itself is B-shaped with two chambers or halls separated with land or an island in the center. The roof of one of the halls caved in centuries ago letting sunlight filter in. The depth of the lake is 20 to 30 meters. When the sun is right overhead at noon, the sunlight hitting the turquoise-blue waters create a magical illusion and the whole Cave of Melissani suddenly feels lit with blue light.
Skala
The beautiful beach is bordered by dense lush hills and rocky outcrops, a unique combination that captivates many visitors. The beach is ideal for snorkeling while excursion boats depart to the nearby islets and isolated coves. On the main street of the settlement, right above the beach are plenty of restaurants and cafes, mini markets and other modern amenities.
Poros
Poros is an attractive coastal settlement located south-west of Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. Built around a marvelous landscape of lush green forests, Poros is also home to a picturesque port that serves itineraries to Patra and Killini, in Peloponnese.
The combination of dense and verdant vegetation along with the crystal blue sea makes this village one of the most perfect summer destinations. Apart from its beautiful landscape and traditional layout, Poros has become a famous tourist resort in Kefalonia welcoming a great number of tourists and Greek travelers during the summer.
Argostoli
Argostoli is the capital of Kefalonia. Argostoli stands on the far end of the natural bay surrounded by mountains and verdant forests.
The modern and cosmopolitan town of Argostoli is quite busy during the summer season offering a plethora of interesting features and activities. The beautifully paved coastal road promenade is boarded by palm trees and colorful pebbles from the sea. The road ends at the small ferry quay where boats connect to the town of Lixouri every half an hour and fishing boats moor.
Fiscardo
This picturesque fishing village is known for its cosmopolitan and warm atmosphere. There is a massive amount of tourism in this small village but it manages to hold its beauty against all odds.
The main coastal road hosts plenty of shops, taverns and bars and it throbs with activity during the summer. The traditional and Venetian buildings and houses with pretty colors embrace the natural bay offering the village a unique charm while reflecting the rich heritage of Kefalonia.
Myrtos Beach
During your stay in Kefalonia it will be nice to dedicate an entire day for Myrtos beach. Located in the region of Pylaros, in the north-west of Kefalonia island. Multi awarded, it stands at the top of the list of the best Greek beaches and ranks among the best worldwide.
